My now husband & I had the most magical experience at Pivot Ballroom! My very best friend paid for us to have lessons before our first dance at our wedding (which she sang for us!). From day one we felt so blessed to have Monika as our teacher! She is such an incredible woman, beautiful on the inside & out! A few tips we have learned over the years.
Don’t wait until the last minute!
Remember that your schedule will get very hectic as the wedding day approaches. We recommend starting a few months earlier so you have time for practice.
Be consistent with your appointments.
The more often you come in, the less review there will be on each lesson. Plan at least once a week to get the most from your lessons.
It’s OK if you haven’t chosen a song yet.
We understand that sometimes it's hard to pick out the perfect song.
If you can't decide, let us help. We have taught hundred of couples over the years and we have lots of good suggestions.
Be patient when learning.
Learning to dance can be stressful, especially if you have never done anything like this before. Think of your lessons as a fun date night and don’t put too much pressure on each other. We want this is too be a fun experience for everyone.
Don’t try to teach your fiance.
You’ll both have a lot more fun dancing if you let your instructor do the teaching.
Practice in the right shoes.
Wear shoes to your lessons that are similar to the ones you’ll be wearing on the big day. You should wait until you have had a few lessons before you wear your actual wedding shoes so you don't scuff them up.
A few things to know for your first lesson.
What is the size of your dance floor?
Will a DJ or band be playing your song?
Will you have any Mother/Son, Father/Daughter or other bridal party dances?
Will the dress affect your movement?
What kind of music will you have at your wedding?
